My role in our initial idea was completing some of the paperwork that is essential to do in order to start our filming. I completed the schedule and the treatment and helped out with other paperwork including the equipment list and contact list as well as taking part in creating and updating the first blog for our production; "The Confusion", where we had to keep a diary of everything we had been doing during the build up to our final production. We also posted links to all of our pre-production paperwork and ancillary tasks. My other role was acting, which isn’t one of my strengths, but I enjoyed It. I also had the role of creating the poster for the ancillary task However, we had to put together a new production and blog, due to the fact that all of the pre-production paperwork was incorrect with the sound sheets and camera sheets not matching with the sound that we had captured and our shots were not fitting together with it. We overcame this as a group by simply linking our old blog to our new blog, so that people can see the mistakes we had made and how we corrected them, so that we could all achieve the best possible grade we can. So we all decided that for the best we had to film again, and change our story but still incorporating our previous footage that we shot. This was good for us because we learnt from our mistakes, and made a better job at it when it came to re-shooting the new production, because we worked as a team. Working together to solve our problems was useful, because overall we made a better production. Re-writing and filming our production helped us all as a group, as we were able to overcome our problems through the support we provided for each other.
In our new production; "Cut the Confusion", my role was to create a whole new blog and update it with all our pre-production paperwork and ancillary tasks which I enjoyed doing I still wanted it to be like our first attempt so I only changed a few things these being the colours of the background and writing and also the font. I also kept the role of creating the film poster and I believe I created it well and to a professional standard before I started designing the film poster I researched other thriller genre films to see what film poster they had designed that would promote their films. The posters I found most interesting were Scream and the Silence of the Lambs, from these I then went on and started to design our final poster. I also had the roles of filling out the camera and sound sheets, which is an important job as it is vital that they are both done correctly with the scenes, shots, takes and file names written down correctly, as this helps out greatly when it comes to editing. I felt major pressure in completing the sound and camera sheets as before hand they were not completed properly and I wanted them to be correct as I didn’t want to fail my friends and group. I worked closely with Siobhan, who was in charge of the TasCam, recording the sound, and Russ, who was in charge of the camera, as I needed to know if the shots and sounds were of good quality and also what the file names were. With the previous production not going to plan, I wanted to make sure I had the correct file names written down, so that the editing would go smoothly. As a group we were all aware of the difficulties we faced in the previous production, and we helped each other out to make sure everything was going correctly. For our production we made a short thriller film which shows many examples of a thriller, and we also challenged the conventions of a thriller by making a thriller film within a thriller film. I felt that having previously filmed productions in AS media, filming our production was a completely new experience, as we used ‘sync-sound’ for the first time. Before filming, we had a lesson on how to use the sync sound by using the whole class to act as a crew and pretend that we were on a set ready to film. This was a good experience, but it was difficult for us to understand as it was still confusing and took us a while to learn, but from our final production you can see that we used the TasCam well, and produced the best possible sound we could get.
In conclusion, We all worked as a team for example we all came up with the ideas to make this film work. Although we made vital mistakes, it was important that as a group we did not give up. We all knew that this production had to be completed so we all stuck by each other, helping one another out. It is important as a group to work together. By making mistakes, it gave us the advantage to know the faults that can go wrong, and gave us the knowledge of these, so in the end, we produced a much better production.
